We have signed up for 2 new recycling initiatives and we need the support of every pupil, their families and friends. We have been recycling batteries, mobile phones and ink cartridges for some time as part of our Green School initiative. We have now found a way that not only helps the environment, but supports 2 very worthwhile Children's Charities.
LAURALYNN, IRELAND'S CHILDREN'S HOSPICE
They provide medical care and support to children with life limiting conditions and their families.
They receive no government funding and are the only children's hospice in Ireland.
We have registered with WEE Ireland, whereby all the batteries we recycle will go towards supporting the LauraLynn Hospice.
We would ask that you send into the school all your used batteries.
You can ask all your families and friends to give you their used batteries also.
The more we collect, the more we can help!
We need your old mobile phones!
The Jack and Jill Children's Foundation
"Old mobile phones can save lives campaign".
The foundation provides nursing and respite care for families with children suffering from neurological illnesses.
By collecting old mobile phones, we can help the foundation. For example, 500 old mobile phones = 1 months nursing care for 1 family.
The new campaign also offers the school the opportunity to gain a free lifesaving ZOLL Automated External Defibrillator worth €2000.00, in exchange for 400 old mobile phones.
So start collecting!!
Ask families, friends, work colleagues, neighbours, etc. to help us reach this target.
All phones can be dropped off at the school's front entrance.
